Ryton & Crawcrook Albion secured their first win of the Ebac Northern League Division 2 season with a tight 1-0 win over Chester-le-Street United on Wednesday.
Aaron Costello’s fabulous 20-yard strike on the hour-mark separated the two sides in an even encounter at Kingsley Park in front of a crowd of 193. Albion ‘keeper Adam Mooney made a number of top saves to keep out the lively visitors and record the first clean sheet of the season too.
Nathan Beckham and Andrew Waugh’s side, who had lost the opening first two matches of the campaign against Horden CW and FC Hartlepool last week, will be hoping to record another victory on Friday when Sunderland West End visit Crawcrook.
