Ryton & Crawcrook Albion were beaten 2-1 at home by Sunderland West End in the Ebac Northern League 2 on Friday night.

Aaron Costello’s header on the half-hour gave Albion the lead at Kingsley Park but a second half brace from Jay McClean secured a deserved victory for the Wearsiders who were denied a number of times by Adam Mooney in the RACA goal.

The defeat is the third in four Northern League matches so far this season for Nathan Beckham and Andrew Waugh’s side. They travel to bottom-of-the-table Esh Winning next, on Tuesday.
