Derby Game Awaits On Saturday

After a fortnight without a game, next up for Albion is the short trip to Essity Park to face Newcastle University who progressed to the semi finals of the Northumberland Senior Cup at Alnwick Town on Tuesday evening. The Students might be in 12th place in the table but have a load of games in hand which if won would propel them right into the play-off mix so let’s hope we don’t give our neighbours a helping hand. A repeat of the result at the Oldhaulage Stadium in September would be agreeable as we won that 4-0 with goals from Jack Salkeld 2, Joe Groves Forbes and Declan Bissett though our cause that day was helped by Adam Redford being dismissed for the Uni. That was our first win over the Students since beating them on penalties in the 2022 Ernest Armstrong Cup Final in Birtley. Our opponents come in to our game in fine form having just lost one of their last nine games in all competitions, so it won’t be an easy task to do the double over them.
